Bomas Digital Cultural Heritage Centre (BDCHC)
The BDCHC is an ongoing flagship initiative driving the transformation of our cultural experiences from traditional presentation formats towards immersive, technology-enhanced engagement, aligned with the broader vision of the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC).
Through the integration of digital tools such as projection mapping, virtual and augmented reality, and interactive installations, BDCHC aims to enhance how Kenya’s cultural heritage is experienced by contemporary audiences. Early pilot projects, including SampleBar Kenya, a digital documentation project funded through the Ignite Culture East Africa grant, have demonstrated the potential of this approach by blending heritage sounds with a digital interface.
Building on this foundation, upcoming initiatives such as the ME-Katilili Immersive Theatre Production and the Urembo Interactive Exhibition will further advance innovative cultural programming. The BDCHC will position Bomas of Kenya at the forefront of cultural innovation, while preserving and promoting the country’s rich and diverse heritage.
